DRAWING FOR THE OCEAN is a data visualization project launching on October 1st, 2024, and running for 60 days in Peniche, Portugal, in collaboration with Peniche Ocean Watch.
The project was made possible by the EU-funded grant, CultureMovesEurope, implemented by the Goethe-Institut.
Prolog (Prologue)
In March 2024 I have visited Peniche Ocean Watch, where the project Circular Ocean is all about merging ocean cleanup with the blue economy, I was truly impressed by their process of turning discarded fishing nets into PENYLON, a durable material.
Here’s my short video form the place:
In April, the Ocean Decade Conference took place in Barcelona, marking a significant milestone in the global effort to address the challenges confronting our planet’s oceans. This event serves as a catalyst for advancing the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030), a vital initiative aimed at fostering sustainable practices and safeguarding marine ecosystems.
Amidst the excitement of the conference, I had the honor of contributing to the ‚Call for Posters.‘, by designing a compelling, large-scale infographic highlighting the objectives of CIRCULAR OCEAN, an innovative startup based in Portugal. It was a privilege to showcase their visionary approach to ocean conservation and sustainable development on such a prominent platform.
